Mu'awiya I ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. 1/2 Fals (Bronze, 18 mm, 3.20 g), Arab-Byzantine type, derived from half-folles of Justin and Sophia from Nicomedia, Scythopolis (Baysan), AH 660s-670s. Imperial figure, holding globus cruciger in his right hand, and imperial figure, holding cruciform scepter in her right hand, seated facing on double throne. Rev. Large K between 'bi-Baysan' (in Kufic) and horizontal line to right; above, cross; below, inverted crescent. Berman, and Qedar, "The Coinage of Scythopolis-Baysan and Gerasa-Jerash," INJ 13, Type B3.
